The Lokayukta team on Tuesday caught Kailash Kumar Lachhe, in-charge Chief Engineer of the Public Works Department in Rewa, accepting a bribe of ₹50,000. The action was carried out in front of Atal Park at his official residence in Civil Lines. Along with him, his non-official associate Dharamveer Indaee was also nabbed by the Lokayukta team.
According to the Lokayukta police, Sonu Singh, manager of PVP Limited testing lab in Satna district, had lodged a complaint. His firm inspects the quality of construction works. It was alleged that Kailash Kumar Lachhe was demanding a bribe of ₹1 lakh per month in exchange for awarding work to the firm in the Public Works Department.
Complaint Lodged in Lokayukta on August 4
Complainant Sonu Singh had registered a complaint at the Lokayukta office in Rewa on August 4. During verification of the complaint, it was confirmed that the accused demanded ₹50,000 through Dharamveer Indaee. Following this, the Lokayukta police set up a trap on Tuesday, August 11.
Caught Accepting ₹50,000 at Official Residence
Led by Deputy Superintendent of Police Praveen Singh Parihar, the Lokayukta team caught the in-charge Chief Engineer accepting a bribe of ₹50,000 from the complainant. During the operation, his non-official associate Dharamveer Indaee was also apprehended.
Kailash Kumar Lachhe is 59 years old. He is originally posted as Executive Engineer in the Public Works Department, Rewa district, and was currently handling the responsibility of in-charge Chief Engineer, PWD Division Rewa. Dharamveer Indaee is also 59 years old and was assisting Lachhe as a non-official associate.
Case Registered Under Prevention of Corruption Act
Lokayukta police registered a case against Kailash Kumar Lachhe and Dharamveer Indaee under Section 7 (as amended) of the Prevention of Corruption Act, 1988. Further legal proceedings are underway.
According to SP Lokayukta Yogeshwar Sharma, the trap was laid on Tuesday after verifying the complaint. He stated that in-charge Chief Engineer Kailash Kumar Lachhe and his associate Dharamveer Indaee were caught red-handed while accepting a bribe of ₹50,000.
